The #1 prescribed branded Chronic Migraine treatment is BOTOX®
What is Chronic Migraine?
Chronic Migraine means having 15 or more headache and migraine days a month each lasting 4 hours or more.
Common symptoms include:
- Moderate to severe headache or head pain
- Head pain that causes throbbing, pounding, or pulsating sensations
- Nausea and/or vomiting
- Sensitivity to light, noise, and/or smells
- Attacks that last from 4 hours to several days
What if I have chronic severe headaches that are not Chronic Migraine?
BOTOX® was not submitted for FDA approval for fewer than 14 headache days a month. Therefore, it is not approved for headaches other than Chronic Migraine.
If you suffer from moderate to severe headaches (not migraine related), you may still benefit from simple BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments. Research-based evidence shows that people who suffer from anxiety and depression may benefit from cosmetic botulinum toxin treatments. Stress and muscle contractions contribute to tension headaches.
How soon does BOTOX® for Chronic Migraine work?
You may feel results as early as 4 weeks after receiving BOTOX® treatment; full effectiveness will be measured at week 24.
Only a doctor can determine if BOTOX® is right for you.
