In California, laser hair removal devices must be performed by physicians (MD or DO), APRNs, PAs, or RNs under the supervision of a physician. These lasers are FDA Class II devices which present moderate risk when used by someone inexperienced.

Dr. Lum has had experience with multiple laser and light devices since 2004, and has trained physician and nurses on multiple occasions during accredited (CME/CEU) two-day laser science workshops.

Dr. Michael Lum evaluates patients and performs all treatments at Lumier Medical.

Our Candela GentleMax Pro laser is an FDA-cleared medical device made in the USA. It creates powerful light energy designed to target pigmented hair within follicles. Over time, hairs thin out, grow in more slowly or stop growing.

Our laser can remove hair from almost anywhere in the body from head-to-toe, including the face, neck, chest, arms, underarms, bikini area and legs.

White hair cannot be treated with optical lasers. A physician consultation with Dr. Michael Lum will help determine if you are a good candidate for this treatment.

A minimum of 4-8 treatments are needed, and possibly more. The answer truly depends on the individual, because each person’s hair and body are different.

Laser manufacturers are prohibited from making claims of complete “permanent hair removal.” It is better to say “permanent hair reduction,” because a healthy body will always try to fix the treated hair follicles.
