BOTOX for Lip Flip FAQs

The Botox Lip Flip is a popular, relatively low-cost treatment in which Botox is used to relax muscles just above the upper lip. This allows the upper lip to evert or curl outward, making it appear slightly larger and poutier.

Typically, 4 to 8 units of Botox are injected just above the edge (vermillion border) of the upper lip.

The cost is between $48 to $96 per BOTOX Cosmetic Lip Flip treatment, depending on the number of units you get.

Dr. Lum will apply either topical anesthetic or ice to your upper lip area, since the upper lip is one of the most sensitive areas of the face. This is a very quick and easy procedure.

This procedure is much more affordable than lip filler.

Your upper lip enhancement will be subtle and natural looking. See the photos below this section. The outer edge of your upper lip will have an enhanced “ski-jump slope” appearance, and your upper lip will look slightly larger.

If you have vertical “lipstick lines” above the upper lip, they may soften with this treatment.

The Lip Flip enhances only the upper lip.

The upper lip enhancement is very subtle, and you may prefer lip filler instead.

The Lip Flip takes 1 to 2 weeks to work, and may last only 2-3 months whereas fillers can last much longer.

The Lip Flip may make your lips feel different temporarily. You will still have sensation, but may find it more difficult to whistle or drink from a straw. For this reason, Dr. Lum treats this area very conservatively.
